Ripple Project successfully completed: Creating a community space for learning disability charity Opening Doors

Updated: Apr 10

It's a wrap!

After three months of perseverant work, our recent coaching participants have finished their "Ripple Project". They created an amazing outdoor community space for user-led charity Opening Doors.

In weekly sessions, under the guidance of professional maintenance firm 247 Residential, the team transformed an unused overgrown space into a friendly, wheelchair accessible and visually appealing outdoor lounge area.

They worked through a range of challenges, not least the grim winter weather conditions, and delivered an excellent result to our pro bono client. Opening Doors' Operations Manager Louise Whitlam said: "Thank you so much for all your hard work, the finished product looks amazing! All visions have come together."

Our participants have increased their self-confidence, reduced their fear of failure and improved their well being throughout the process. One participant reflected, "It gave me the confidence to do things (...) instead of staying inside. I also learnt how to cope better in difficult situations and people."

Another one expressed, "Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this experience and gained a lot of new skills and confidence on the way."

Our Ripple Projects are small hands-on projects which we deliver for free for non-profit organisations in Norfolk; in order to help them enhance their social impact. By applying and developing their skills for a good cause, our coaching participants build confidence while making tangible positive "ripple" impact in their local community.

Applications for our next Ripple Project are now open! All Norfolk-based non-profit organisations are invited to apply before 25th April 2024.
