Over the last couple of months, a group of Rippleacts participants supported The Puppet Tree in West Runton in making a range of improvements to their theatre.
Under professional guidance, our small team worked tirelessly at all levels. Unhampered by the 2-hour commute, they showed up (even for additional volunteering days!), cleared out sheds, tidied, painted, decorated, designed, drilled, repaired, did plenty of woodwork and DIY, gardened, jet cleaned, ran the shop and made beautiful puppets.
The full list is much longer!
The results:
🌟 The Puppet Tree has now improved and expanded premises, where they are already running arts & crafts workshops. This gives this unique social enterprise an additional income stream, supporting their important work with disadvantaged children.
🌟 Two out of our three participants who were long-term out of work have now a job; one started a volunteering placement with prospects for freelance work!
In the words of Karen Crane, Director of the Puppet Tree:
"The Rippleacts project is true to its name. During their visit, the ‘ripples’ of positivity and energy from the team supported the development of an exciting new addition to The Puppet Tree and gave a very welcome ‘face lift’ to the theatres entrance path. Thank you very much to all involved."
One participant who is now working reflected, "After being out of work for quite some time, due to health, it was a much needed step to getting back to a routine and building up my confidence again."
Another one expressed, "I found the skills I learnt was the most enjoyable. Everything I did involving the improvement of the shop and puppet studio was very fun."
