We are looking for an experienced and hands on Freelance Project Lead with a background in maintenance and DIY to guide our participants through meaningful community renovation projects.
These projects are a vital part of our work helping people who are long term unemployed back into employment as they help build skills, confidence and give back to the local community.
Previous examples include a renovated detox room for Change, Grow, Live in Norfolk and a renewed community garden based for St Augustines Church in Norwich.

Location: Norfolk (various premises, non-profit organisations)
Type: Freelance / Contract
Hours: Flexible, project-based (approx. 8-10 weekly sessions of 4 hours each per project)
About Us
Rippleacts is a Norwich-based social enterprise supporting long-term unemployed people in Norfolk. We use coaching, mentoring, peer support and practical work experience to help people regain confidence, wellbeing and move closer to employment. As part of that, our "Ripple" Projects partner with local non-profit organisations to deliver hands-on improvements to their premises — benefitting both the organisation and our participants
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Lead (trader or professional company in maintenance / DIY) who can:
* Oversee and manage the planning, execution, and completion of small renovation projects for non-profits.
* Supervise, guide and mentor a team of long-term unemployed participants in practical tasks (e.g. maintenance, woodwork, painting / decorating, basic repairs).
* Liaise with the non-profit client to agree scope, schedule, materials and standards.
* Ensure safety, quality, and budget considerations are met.
* Foster a positive learning environment: teaching, guiding and encouraging participants; adapting tasks to match capabilities; ensuring participants gain skills and confidence, managing challenges sensitively.
Key Skills & Experience
* Registered trader or professional firm in maintenance / building / DIY (e.g. carpentry, general building, decorating).
* Excellent people skills: patience, clear communication, ability and interest to teach, mentor, motivate.
* Ability to plan logistics: time, materials, health & safety compliance.
* A commitment to the values of social enterprise: enabling people, making positive community impact.
